from the foot of the cross

“What strengthens our faith, what remains constant, what gives us hope, is the Church of the suffering - whether these witnesses had to die for their faith or whether they had to let themselves be trampled on, day after day and year after year, for his sake.” - Cardinal Ratzinger

As I sat in the chapel on Easter Sunday, reflecting on the profound experiences of Holy Week and the Easter Triduum, a phrase echoed in my mind: “overcome with paschal joy.”

What is the first thought that comes to your mind when you hear the word “fasting”? I do not know about you, but for me, I immediately think “It’s hard."

I am sitting with Jesus in the chapel just marveling at His goodness as I ponder how He’s worked this Advent! The Scripture sticking out to me from Isaiah says, “Why do you let us wander, O Lord, from your ways?” (Isaiah 63:17-19)

Jesus said to his disciples: Be watchful! Be alert! You do not know when the time will come. (Mk 13:33)

My last blog on World Youth Day has to be a word of recognition for a very special group of people: The Mighty Ducks.
