A Reply to Love

from the foot of the cross

I know World Youth Day is technically over, but I'm back in the States and just starting to sort out my life, so blog posts will continue!

At the Vigil with the Holy Father, he referred to the importance of mentors in our life, those who have been "roots of joy" for us, and asked us to spend a few moments calling those people to mind, remembering them. It was a powerful moment for me, since there have been many such people in my life. The picture included here was from a recent "root" - the precious couple who hosted me and another sister, Sr. Sarah, during World Youth Day. Their faith and their love for each other really transmitted life to me.

The Holy Father went on to challenge us, saying that in order to become roots of joy for others, we must TRAIN EACH DAY. When we fall, we must be ready to get back up and carry on, thus building strength in our own lives in Christ so we can nourish others.

How are you training today? Who has been a root of joy for you? For whom are you called to be such a root?
